Testing The Body Shop newest product: the Facial Mists

Yay! A new package from The Body Shop. I personally love The Body Shop because their products are cruelty free 🐰 and they are also vegan. In today’s blogpost I’ll be reviewing one of the newest additions to their shop: The Body Shop Face Mists.

face mist

What’s a face mist? It’s kind of like a spray for your face to hydrate it. During the colder seasons, my skin gets a lot dryer, especially after hot showers. You can spray the face mist on before or after applying makeup. There are a few different scents available: rose, mandarin, coconut, strawberry, and mint. I received the Energising Mandarin, the Calming Coco and the Smoothing Strawberry face mists.

I think the packaging looks great. The bottles are very colorful and the size makes it easy to take with you in your handbag.

The smell of the face mists are amazing. Each of the face mists smells exactly like the packaging promises it would. The scents fade away pretty quickly, but that’s fine with me because I don’t want my face to smell like perfume anyway.

The Calming Coco face mist smells like a really nice coconut body butter or body lotion. It doesn’t smell like real coconuts. It’s a pretty sweet smell but not in a way that it makes you nauseous. It contains coconut water and aloe vera, which are both amazing for hydrating the skin.

The Energising Mandarin face mist is my favorite one out of all three. It contains mandarine, caffeine and aloe vera. I think the smell is really pleasant. I can’t really describe what it smells like, you just have to try it yourself, but I promise that it’s good.

The Smoothing Strawberry face mist smells guessed it: strawberries! It’s the sweetest scent of all three face mists but not necessarily unpleasantly sweet. This smell lasts the longest out of all three because it’s quite a strong scent. It contains strawberry, guava and aloe vera. The guava was a surprise to me, I wouldn’t have guessed it. I think this one would be great during Winter. It might be a little bit too sweet during Summer.

the test

It’s time for the test now: do they do what they promise they would do? I think the primarily use of these face mists is to hydrate your face, and they all do a wonderful job at that. You do have to spray from a distance, though. If you spray too closely to your face, too much product comes out which will make your face kind of sticky. For the best results, stretch your arm and then spray.

The face mists are makeup friendly as well. I haven’t applied the sprays before applying my makeup but I have afterwards and it hasn’t ruined my makeup whatsoever. I often use the face mists when I am not wearing makeup, just to protect my face.

The Calming Coco is supposed to soothe, calm and comfort dry, sensitive skin. Now, my skin is quite sensitive and I haven’t had any allergic reactions using the spray whatsoever.

The Smoothing Strawberry is supposed to make the skin smoother, softer and more refined. Now, I haven’t used this particular spray a lot if I’m being honest so I haven’t noticed a big difference whenever I do use it.

The Energising Mandarin is by far my favorite. The combination of the mandarin and caffeine is supposed to revive and awaken skin. Maybe it’s just all in my head, but I honestly think that the spray really does make me feel more energized. The smell of the spray just really helps me to feel more refreshed. I often use this spray when I feel tired during my study sessions.

final thoughts: is it worth your money?

I think the sprays do a fantastic job on what they are supposed to do: hydrate the skin and smell good. They are sold seperately at The Body Shop for 8 euros each. Each bottle contains 60 ml. I think the price is pretty good for the product you get, especially when compared to other facial mists. I wouldn’t say that these sprays are a necessity for everyone but it is quite nice for the skin. As I said before, the size is perfect for taking it with you in your handbag or travels so you can use it whenever you want during the day to refresh and hydrate your face.

In conclusion, yes the sprays are worth your money, if you are into this type of skin care products.
